Huawei S7

Computex 2010 was the setting where many tablet prototypes were revealed, each company trying to compete with the others in terms of design and functionality. It was here where Huawei revealed its S7 Android-running tablet, and surprisingly, it has the 2.1 version installed, not the 1.6 one that was announced in March. Hopefully, before this thing hits the stores, the guys at Huawei might actually decide to go for the newly-released 2.2 Froyo version, for the ultimate Android experience.

Packing a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, the S7 prototype boasts a 7-inch, 800 x 480 pixel resistive touchscreen. Engadget had the chance to see the device first hand and they were actually impressed with the screen responsiveness and general functioning speed of the tablet.

The Android-running tablet supports the phone feature, but we're not so sure you'll be wanting to hold a seven incher to your ear whenever you get a call. You do have the bluetooth headset option always available, though. You also get 3G connection, which means you can browse the net wherever a cellular signal is available.

If you're wondering what else you can expect from the S7, here's a brief spec list: it has an internal speaker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a microSD slot, a dock with HDMI out, two USB ports, and a very convenient kickstand. The kickstand is a really cool feature because at least you don't have to worry about buying expensive stands or cradles for this thing. All you have to do is flip out the stand and surf the net, view pictures or watch videos. This tablet isn't too heavy, so it's not difficult to hold anyways, from what we hear.

Sounds pretty interesting, we know, it could turn out to be a real competitor for more popular brands. But don't get too excited yet, there is no word on a possible release date or price tag, so all we can do now is wait and see. In the meantime, we'll keep an eye out for other upcoming Android tablets. Feel free to check out the source link for more pictures and a demo video.
