2011 RENAULT FLUENCE SEDAN: MORE DETAILS EMERGE!

Renault Fluence Sedan
While Renault India will launch the Fluence Sedan later this month, there are new details emerging about what the Renault Fluence will bring to the table in terms of variants and pricing. Renault India seems to be following a brand new approach towards pricing and positioning of the petrol and diesel variants of the Fluence. What we have been hearing has surprised us no end and we’re pretty certain that you’d be a little surprised too.
Renault India will not price the diesel variant of the Fluence Sedan higher than the petrol variant. Instead what you will get is a stripped out variant with the 1.5 Liter, 105 Bhp-240 Nm diesel engine that will the bread and butter seller for Renault India. The ARAI certified fuel economy of close to 22 KMPL is expected to be the biggest crowd puller for the diesel engined Fluence, along with of course the price tag which is expected to be significantly lesser than that of the petrol variant.

To do this, Renault India might have to skimp on equipment levels on the diesel variant as a lower prices diesel version is almost an unheard of thing in the Indian car market, considering the higher costs a diesel engine entails to produce. Coming to the 135 Bhp-190 Nm, 2 Liter petrol engined Fluence, the car will be positioned as a premium offering and will be the top of the line version with all the bells and whistles including the CVT transmission.
Quite surprisingly, Renault India seem to be considering only two variants of the Fluence Sedan, the base diesel and the top of the line petrol, with nothing in between. This obviously looks like a bold experiment and it would be quite interesting to see how the Indian car buyer reacts to this move from Renault as a car that will cost over 10 Lakh rupees is expected to have some kind of finesse in the interiors. Over to the launch then, on May 23rd, when prices will be revealed.
